trial license expires and machine locked up

Help!
My daughter loaded a my copy of XP home on her computer
and after the 30 day trial period the software locked up
the machine sothat it can not be used at all without an
activation number. She was running windows 98. I purchased
XP home for my machine. How dow I restore her machine to
windows 98/

2. Create a new partition.
