Touchpad and Wireless Mouse Issue

My computer acts like the left click button is always pressed whether I am
using the touchpad or my wireless mouse. I have checked my mouse settings and
all appear fine except it will not let me test the double click speed. Oh
yeah, double click is not working. I am having to right click and select
open. I have checked my folder options setting and everything appears fine
there too. Any suggestions?

Check the sensitivity on Double-tap on the touchpad, if your notebook has
that feature. If you disable the touchpad in device manager or control
panel, do you have the same problem?

Unfortunately, the touchpad sensitivity suggestion did not help. Yes, I have
the same problem once I disabled the touch pad.

(My computer is free of viruses. Other than this issue it is working great.)

Both my wireless mouse and the touchpad are repsonding the same way. Any
more suggestions?

Perhaps the problem is with the wireless mouse, then. Try a different
mouse as a test.

New mouse didn't work either. I actually have more abilities with my
wireless mouse. Some features are not working on my touchpad, i.e. right
click is working on wireless not touchpad. It's got me stumped! I've also
done a repair on XP that didn't help either.

It sounds like a hardware issue.. try removing the touchpad from Device
Manager, sicne you can't remove it physically.

Have you by chance tried disabling the touchpad and using a wired mouse
instead of the wireless, just for testing?
What make/model/etc. is the notebook? Maybe it's something that is a known
flaw with that particular notebook.
