Synaptics TouchPad Problems

D

Dan

I'm having trouble when I try to DoubleClick/Highlight
text with my Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop touchpad. Since
I'm disabled it's hard for me to push the Left/Right
mouse buttons below the touch pad, so I just "click" by
tapping the touchpad. But when it comes to highlighting
text, the only way to do that is by pushing the Left
mouse button, which is something that I never had to do
before on my old Dell Inspiron 7000 (I could just "Double-
tap", drag and select wanted text, then "Tap" again to
stop the dragging/highlighting process), but my new 5150
doesn't have the same option.

And no, "ClickLock" is not the solution, because you
still have to physically push the Left mouse button to
start the dragging/highlighting process!

Please Help

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 5150 using Synaptics
TouchPad V5.9 on PS/2 Port.

This is a Dell specific solution. Go to Start> Help and Support> Type
Touchpad in the search box.
You can also access Control panel from Start> Control Panel> Mouse. Look for
the Device Setting Tab [or similar] then Settings button. You should have
options to set the finer points of touchpad from this window.
If you don't see the option you need, check the manufacturer web site for
updated drivers. Also check the Synaptics web site.

Peter is bunging it on. I checked google before saying anything. He has posted normally, with spaces, since his issue happened.
