Too many programs in start up of msconfig

I tried to disable the number of programs in start up by
using msconfig but get a message that the configuration
utility has been launched, etc when I reboot.

Do I just say OK and leave the start up items disabled?

I feel that it is slowing my computer up during normal
operation

MSCONFIG is a tool to allow you to see the results of disabling certain
startup items.

You need to (once you have verified the worthlessness of the apps you
disabled at startup) manually remove their startup item from whatever
location they are in - whether that is the Start Menu startup folder,
autoexec.bat or the registry....
