Today I learned

A: The cover for my phone case is magnetic.
B: Putting said phone in said phone case on my laptop is what has been causing said laptop to shut down. DOH!

That's a good bit of detective work! Do you know why it was causing it to shut down?

I found out while doing a RAM upgrade. Where I was placing the phone is where the hard drive is. Magnet in the case is obviously strong enough to stop the hard drive from spinning.

TIL small things make big differences .................

I have my super dooper Skylake build set up with a dual boot. I have a Logitech usb keyboard.

Trying to use the "Del or F12" keys to get into SetUp or a Boot menu has been very hit and miss. The pc often boots straight into Windows no matter how quickly I hit the mentioned keys. This means that I have to shutdown and try to boot again over and over again if I want to use my Arch install. As you can imagine this has rather upset my normal chilled out equilibrium.
Yesterday I found an old purple PS/2 to usb adapter and I noticed that my mobo had a single purple PS/2 socket, there is no green PS/2 socket.
Hmm I thought , I wonder if I plug my Logitech keyboard into the PS/2 connector and plug that into the mobo , will it make a difference to my dual boot problem.
An do you know it did.
Hit the power switch, hit "Del or F12" a couple of times and, like magic I get into the Bios or a Boot Menu. Every single time not just now and again but every single time.
Ain't life strange.

Well, he's certainly got guts. :)

Steam engines are notoriously inefficient and the world record for a loco is 126mph and that was travelling on the flat (or possibly slightly downhill) with the wind behind. When you add in gravity will this thing even get off the ground? :D

Still, you need to be an optimist. :D

And remember this quote from an Albert Guinon,

"When everyone is against you, it means that you are absolutely wrong-- or absolutely right." :D

This is why I say we should just remove all the warning labels and let nature take its course. ;)

Natural selection, good idea :thumb:

The frustrating thing is that people like this have a platform to miseducate others. I just don't see what they have to gain from all this, and it makes people more wary of scientists who actually know what they're talking about.

of scientists who actually know what they're talking about.

Are there any? :D

Are you saying you don't think most scientists know what they're talking about?!
