Today I learned a lot about Christopher Lee. What a fascinating guy!
  • Worked for RAF Intelligence during WW2
  • Can trace his lineage back to Charlemagne
  • Was a classically trained singer
  • Into heavy metal, and was releasing symphonic metal albums into his 90s.
  • Step-father was Ian Fleming's uncle
  • Spoke French, German, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Russian and Swedish.
  • Knew the name of every official executioner England has had since the middle of the 15th century.
  • Fought on the Finnish side in the Russo-Finnish winter war in 1939-1940
  • Was distantly related to the Borgias
  • He was a spectator at the last public guillotining in France

Is there anything he didn't do?!

Well, well, there was a TV programme about this very lady and the HeLa cells just a few weeks back. :)

It's a great story because polio was very, very scary when I was a nipper. I remember standing in line waiting to have the Polio injection at school. The oral preparation came a bit later.

Saved many lives and stopped many cases of paralysis in those that did survive. :thumb:
