When I try to sync my clock I get the following message: An error occurred
while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com. The time sample was
rejected because: The peer's stratum is less than the host's stratum. Can
someone please tell me how to fix this problem?

The first response was due to many problems with that server,
"time.windows.com" was always the first thing to be changed on my WinXP
systems. See if this article helps "A list of the Simple Network Time
Protocol (SNTP) time servers that are available on the Internet"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/262680. When I went to that article of the
two links there the only link http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/ntp.html has
something downloadable to correct the problem. After the download Windows
was unable to open it so therefore the problem still exists.

The second response was Install *both* updates if not already done:

1. "Update for Windows XP (KB931836)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=66f1420c-df2d-400b-a8a9-ef9061a9a3ca

2. "Update for Windows XP (KB932590)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=1b38b995-a6f2-4703-95fc-f504ef4e4f39

I had already installed the above updates so the problem still exists. Can
anyone be of some further help in the resolution of this problem.

Hi David

I think the point of directing you to that Microsoft article was to get
you to try some of the other time servers listed. Did you? (If you're
not sure how, simply open Control Panel | Date and Time |Internet Time,
click in the server name box to highlight the entry and type in the new
name you want. then click Update Now.)
