When I put pictures in my folder in My Pictures and I click on that folder, I see only one picture. No thumbnails of all of the pictures in that folder are displayed. I get the same picture over and over again. I want to see all of them in the folder. How can I do this? Thanks for your help

Are you sure you have more than one picture in this folder? How do you know
you have more than one picture?
Did you transfer picture from a digital camera to this folder? If so, did
you select all the pictures from your camera memory card to be transferred
or did you select just the first one?
Tell us a little more about how you "put pictures in my folder" and if you
see only one picture, is this picture the first one in the group you tried
to transfer.

I scanned the pictures and they automatically went into a folder with my name on. It shows a folder and on the front it has four pictures of what I scanned. (I scanned more than one.) Does each picture have to go in a separate folder? I didn't think so. The picture I keep getting is the first one I scanned. I do not have a digital camera. We are looking around at different cameras and absolutely do not know which one to buy. Wish someone could help me with that too.I know that is stictly personal.

I scanned the pictures. I do not have a digital camera as yet. I see only the first picture I scanned. On the front of the folderis this picture and three other ones that I scanned. I must be doing something wrong, for sure. I am not real computer savey. Just started working with computers since I have retired. Maybe I'm too old for this sport. Thanks for your patience and help. Nobody is too old to learn. Enjoy retirement and pictures.
This is a friendly site, so don't hesitate to post. If you are not computer
savvy, don't worry. We will try to guess what you are doing. I was guessing
that you were downloading images from a digital camera. Obviously I was
wrong. You are scanning images. So I will try again.
You wrote "on the front folder is this picture and three other ones that I
scanned". OK. So, obviously the other scanned pictures are there. Did you
try to double click on this front folder to open it. When you do this you
should see thumbnails of all the scanned pictures and when you double click
on them they should open full screen. Does this works? If not, prepare a new
post and tell us again how you scanned and how you are trying to open the
files. Somebody will help.

As for buying a digital camera, you can visit this site
http://www.steves-digicams.com/
and compare what is available. A very basic "bottom line" should be a camera
capable of 3 Megapixels resolution, 3X optical zoom and a built-in flash.
After this you can decide if you want a camera that you can slip in your
purse or a larger one with more options.

The site Yves posted is a great source for info
on Digital Cameras. I also like the following site...
It has a tool that allows you to compare actual
images from various camera models side by side.

Imaging Resource
(Check out the Comparometer)
http://www.imaging-resource.com/

Personally, I like the Canons...
if you plan to print mostly 4x6" images...2 to 3 MP
should be adequate. If you plan to print lots of 8x10"
images...3 to 5 MP would be worth a look.

If you are interested in zoom...be sure to choose
a camera with Optical zoom. Digital zoom is nothing
more than cropping and you can do that yourself
with a good image editing program.

Thank you so very much for your help. Yes, Yves, I have double clicked on the folder and all that comes up is the first picture I scanned. There are no thumbnails of the other pictures. I am befuddled. Probably would be best to start all over. Thanks also for the camera info. I am thinking of a 4 or a 5 mp. We are leaning toward the Cannon A80. Our 50th wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of months and we are taking a trip to Europe to celebrate. So definitely want to have a camera soon. Thanks again for your patience and help.

Wild guess...but I'm wondering if the new scan is
replacing the previous scan. Have you see a dialog
box that says something like....

"This folder already contains a file named xxxx.jpg...
Would you like to replace the existing file?"

If each successive scan is replacing the previous
one that would explain why you only have one file.

You're welcome.

I saw your message about the Canon A80...I think it
would be an excellent choice. Be sure to purchase
a carrying case, an extra Compact Flash memory
card (or 3) and plenty of batteries.

My daughter has a Canon and she uses rechargable
AA batteries...but you may have problems recharging
them in Europe so the plain AAs might be the best
option while on your trip.

Here's some info on the rechargable batteries that
my daughter uses:

She purchased Ray-O-Vac NiMH batteries...
(charge in one hour) and the Ray-O-Vac 1 hour
charger.

Rayovac Rechargeable NiMH

Rayovac's 1-Hour NiMH Charger
http://www.rayovac.com/products/recharge/chargers.shtml

BTW, she also tried the 15 minute rechargeables
and was not happy with them.

*****Congratulations on your 50th wedding anniversary*****

Thanks for all your info, John. Went to look further yesteray. Looked at the Minolta Dimage Z2. Seems more cumbersome, but looks like it has many features. It's the same as Z1, but 4 mp instead of 3. What do you think of Minolta?

=======================================
I'm familiar with Minolta film cameras and they are
top quality...I suspect their digitals are excellent also.

I notice the Dimage Z2 has a10x optical zoom...that
would be very useful. (digital zoom is worthless IMHO)

Actually, I think you would be well served with any of
the major brands. My suggestion would be to find a
brand/model that has the features that you like best.

Here's another good site for reviews and they also
have info from users that may be informative for you.

DPReview
http://www.dpreview.com/

BTW...did you notice on Steve's site that each
review has a final conclusion fo what they think of
the camera?

Here's the one on the Dimage Z2
