Saving pictures and thumbnail view

I am having a small problem. I belong to the Pictureview.com Web Site. I save
a lot of pictures from this web site by right-clicking on them and then
clicking "Save as". This opens up the "Save Picture" dialog box, and I save
all these pictures in the "My Pictures" folder. The problem is, I like it to
open in thumbnail view. The folder itself is in thumbnail view, but when I
open the folder, all of the sub-folders are in list view. I click on the
views button and reset them to thumbnail view, but the next time I open the
folder to save another picture they're back to list view again. How do I get
it to stay in thumbnail view? And can I get it to stay in thumbnail view for
the next time I restart the computer?

Try this....open the folder and choose the
view you prefer. Now go to...Tools / Folder
Options / View tab. Left click the Apply To All
Folders button / Yes / OK.

If this fails...have a look at the following article.

(813711) Your view settings or customizations
for a folder are lost or incorrect

File Save As doesn't use folder settings. My Pics is thumbnbails, everything else is list.

Click on Tools on the top bar. Folder Options>View.
This opens a window. Scroll down and check the box "Remember each folder
view settings".
Now if you set a folder to thumbnail, it will return as such and another
folder to details, it will return as such.

File Save As dialogs do not use folder settings. They use global settings. These are the only things you can set for dialogs.

typedef struct {
BOOL fShowAllObjects:1;
BOOL fShowExtensions:1;
BOOL fNoConfirmRecycle:1;
BOOL fShowSysFiles:1;
BOOL fShowCompColor:1;
BOOL fDoubleClickInWebView:1;
BOOL fDesktopHTML:1;
BOOL fWin95Classic:1;
BOOL fDontPrettyPath:1;
BOOL fShowAttribCol:1;
BOOL fMapNetDrvBtn:1;
BOOL fShowInfoTip:1;
BOOL fHideIcons:1;
BOOL fWebView:1;
BOOL fFilter:1;
BOOL fShowSuperHidden:1;
BOOL fNoNetCrawling:1;
DWORD dwWin95Unused;
UINT uWin95Unused;
LONG lParamSort;
int iSortDirection;
UINT version;
UINT uNotUsed;
BOOL fSepProcess:1;
BOOL fStartPanelOn:1;
BOOL fShowStartPage:1;
UINT fSpareFlags:13;
} SHELLSTATE, *LPSHSHELLSTATE;
Folders settings override the sort specified above in a folder window. But this will be the default for a new folder. So the only thing that youi can change is the sort not the icon style.

I'll bet John and David, before they gave their helpful advise, didn't check
out the PictureView web site, not that they should need to...
