Thumbnail Problem

Biff Dortman

Hi Folks,
I've been experiencing a problem with thumbnails of
photos. Recently, after saving changes to pictures in
Photoshop, the thumbnail pictures (in My Pictures folder)
change to small black squares. I've tried several
diagnostic tools, as well as re-starting my computer.
The thumbnails remain black squares. Thumbnails of
pictures I haven't changed view as miniature pictures of
the originals.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Biff

Can you open the images in Windows Picture
and Fax Viewer?

What format did you save the edited files in?
I don't think PhotoShop .psd files are compatible
with WinXP.

I was importing .orf (olympus raw file) files and saving them as .psd using an import plugin in PhotoShop 7. How ever I noticed that one of the files I saved as a .psd file a few minutes earlier now was showing yet another pictures thumbnail, and the color was off too. But when I clicked on it, it would show the correct picture in the little preview window in PhotoShop's file browser. Since I assume that a .psd file saves without any lossy compression, my solution was to open the file, save it with the same name as it was before. Click yes when asked to replace an already saved file. And that took care of that. I hope it doesn't happen again.
