Thumbnails in My Pictures

For some reason the Thumbnail option in My Pictures has
stopped working. You can choose thumbnail in the view
options and it shows a large square with a file icon
inside instead of the picture. It was working, then it
wasn't. Any ideas????? Thanks guys!!!!!
