Missing File: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\Run
Time\0700\Intel32\DotNetInstaller.exe" cannot access a necessary file,
"mscoree.dll".

This pops up on many peoples Nortons searches, I've been working out how to
install a dll file but mroe than this why did it happen> I was not doing
anything.

Anybody got experience with this particular missing file?

Symantec says:

and Google found this proposed solution burried in a long thread...

01/11/04 To solve the miss mscoree.dll problem download a copy of
"mscoree.dll" from this site:
http://www.downloadthis.net/dllfiles.html
unzipped it and copy the mscoree.dll file into your "DotNetInstaller.exe"
file which is located on your hard drive at:
C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\0701\Intel32\
DotNetInstaller.exe
Then re-run Norton Utilities or SystemWorks and this should fix the error.
PTL!!

The only thing was the \0701\ didn't match my folder number, but the rest
matched including the Intel32 folder, I popped it into the Intel32 folder,
is that ok? Will that mess anything up because the numbers on the folder
don't match?

Anwyay Norton now as you correctly pointed out does not return a fault!!!

Thankyou profusely Sir.

Should be ok. Put it where it said it couldn't find it on your PC.

Yes, you need that file to install MS .NET framework.
