There is a version update to AVG 8.0 Free

the new version is 8.0173
this is suppose to fix the crashing when clicking on the icon amoung other
things

this is just in the FREE version

You might see a box popup on the right bottom of your taskbar telling you
there is an update.
If you are not at the computer you might miss it so please open the program
and click on "check for updates".

is it the free one or the pro?
if it is the free one you need to uninstall the old version first

you can get the new version here

if it is the pro you need to get a new license number from AVG
you can go to their website-click on support and look it up

Hi,
I have uninstalled AVG 8 and am trying to install Kaspersky which I have
purchased.
When I load the CD it tells me it can because AVG 8 is still on PC.
Have searched everything and PC tells me it aint there!!!
Can you give me any tips on how I can find and get rid of it in order to
install my new Kaspersky Internet Security software?
I have picked up a lot of malware ie many adware stuff and a trojan hence
reason I bought the Kaspersky to try and clean my PC.
Your help would be much appreciated from a non-technical user.

Did you reboot after the uninstall? Some items can only be removed
during a reboot.

Thanks for the correction Robin. That's what happens when you close your
eyes for even a moment in the security field. What was true yesterday
isn't necessarily true today (or tomorrow).
