Two inches of snow overnight.

Looks like it did 3-4 weeks ago.

It was very surreal here yesterday afternoon.

To the north the skies were bright blue whilst to the south big grey clouds loomed dark and ominous.

And then with the sun still shining brightly, with that harshness that it only seems to give in winter, the snow started falling heavily.

The wind blew it around in swirls, great big fluffy powdery flakes and the landscape resembled the inside of one of those snow shakers you win on a caravan holiday to Skegness at the clubhouse bingo.

The snow didn't setlle, just blew round in circles on the floor and melted under the sun.

Really quite odd.

Bright blue skies and sunshine today, think I'll take a stroll round Greenwich Park, maybe brush up on my ornithology skills to impress Mucks.

Or maybe just catch a duck for lunch :)

We woke to a light covering. It was hard to tell, at first, whether it was a heavy ground frost, or snow. When the Postie called, he told us that the roads were very bad, very slippery, with some impassable because they were so icy.

He went on to tell us that when he was a few miles from here, he had to get out of his van to stop traffic, because a car (and its driver) were sliding down a hill sideways on the ice. Must have been quite alarming, but happily, the vehicle eventually slithered to a stop without anyone being hurt. :)

The birds were very busy at the feeders, so we began to watch them from the window a wee while ago..... but then a dirty great Sparrowhawk suddenly flew-in and frightened them all. Cannot be certain whether he caught anything, because his arrival was so quick. Doh!

A Poem from winter..

Very cold last night & a heavy ground frost this morning, but no snow.
Got a bit bored with having snow earlier this month.

We had a tiny bit of snow last night, but we went to Harrogate for the day today and the M62 had some alongside it in some places. Lots of gritters out too, so I expect more tomorrow!

Well, it's back again. Woke up to find half an inch of the white stuff out there and now it's intermittent blizzards.

Seems to be finding it difficult to lay though. :)

It's just started quite heavy here too, which is odd as the skies were clear a few hours ago!

We had a smattering of snow here to in west essex this morning but the lovely sunny day has melted it all away again, we keep getting small snow flurries nearly everyday for the last 4 days now..

It has been bright and sunny throughout the day, but for the past hour or so, snowflakes have been falling; not heavily, they are quite sparse, but persistent... if that makes any sense :)
