i have a few minor problems that cause me to worry a bit

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by ... i got this message after i turned on my comp - does this mean someone is using it? its my sw doctor program or spyware detector program- - i dont use them at all - and i make sure to turn them off.

that and this small problem - in word it suddenly replaces my letters - as in if i were editing a document if i write a word in the middle of a sentence - each letter replaces one in the sentence - my new word eats my old words ...

so when i searched this it said something about terminal computers - and access different comp. = diff keyboard functions...

so i checked the box for "Don't allow exceptions" in the windows firewall settings and outta nowhere my word documents went back to normal...
is someone accessing my comp?

p.s. my back space does not work like a long time ago - when i highlight something - it wont delete it - that and when i highlight something and start typing - the highlighted section does not delete.

Well since you are in Security section, I will prompt you to post your HijackThis log here to see if any Malwares are causing this.
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).

If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Ok, in next post please paste SDFix report, ComboFix report and fresh HijackThis log, and tell us did anything improve on your computer.

Click Fix yes. Run SDFix ( if done, just post a report ) and then run ComboFix with given prompts.
Oh and please, disconnect from Internet before running it ok? It may ruin your conection so you must establish it again.

Finished!

when i restarted i had to press f1 - hardrive found an error - thats nothing special is it
1. wait i was still connected when i did this - or do i disconnect now after i d/l the combo fix?
2. and before all that i have to make hijack this fix the files u mentioned?

p.s. i happened to read your post with mucks - everytime i turn on my comp i check the processes and i have to wait until a svhost that uses 60% of processes to stop - it stops in a min or so - this is normal right? no virus in safemode?

thanks it seems fine
tho i have three minor worries
1. my spyware detector and spyware doctor keep saying they found wourms and spyware - but ive been ignoreing them thinking they are just there so as to make u purchase them - are they like telling the truth?
2. i think java may have a lil bug
3. and i get a meditation guru red and black message < rarely tho
so as i have said i just ignore these... but are they problems?
thanks for everything

Hmm that can easily be Smitfrauds...yes indeed, unnoticeable in the log but today many cases on other forums...
OK, let's just asume it's Smitfraud!
One last fix.
Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm.

Please download ATF cleaner
Do not run it yet.

AVG Anti-Spyware - 1st Part
Download the trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware from here and install it. When the program has been installed, and you click the Finish button, AVG Anti-Spyware will open.
If the program does not automatically update itself during installation, or you are unsure whether it has done so, please do the following:
  • Click the Update icon at the top and under Manual Update click the Start update button.
  • The program will either update or inform you that no update was available.
  • It is essential that you get the update - keep trying until successful. (Note: If you have problems getting the update, you can download an installer for the full database from here (save it on your desktop). Once you have downloaded the installer, make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed and then double-click on avgas-signatures-full-current.exe to install the database).
Please set up the program as follows:
  • Click the Shield icon at the top and under Resident shield is... click active. This should now change to inactive.
  • Click the Update icon and untick the automatic update option.
  • Click on Scanner on the toolbar.
  • Click on the Settings tab.
    • Under How to act? - make sure that Quarantine is selected.
    • Under How to scan? - All checkboxes should be ticked.
    • Under Possibly unwanted software - All checkboxes should be ticked.
    • Under Reports - Select Do not automatically generate reports.
    • Under What to scan? - Select Scan every file.
Close all open windows.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
----------------------------------------------------
Once in Safe Mode, double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.
