I've only started using Gimp recently, since around the time of the release
of version 2, and IMO the interface *is* useable and the program itself is
excellent and pretty stable. AFAIK there's no other digital image
manipulation program with anything like it's capabilities - for a comparable
program your looking at PSP or Photoshop.

Windows 9x/ME operating systems are no longer supported, you can install
The Gimp on Win9x/ME anyway, but don't complain if something doesn't
work. from

The GIMP 1.2 should run on Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP. It is
recommended to use an NT-based version of Windows (NT4, 2000 or XP) for
GIMP 2.0. from

What exactly is the GTK+ 2 runtime environment? Any concerns with it?

anyone have any problems with the new version of Gimp for Win on 98SE?
