Temporary internet files

In my directory under ”C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5”
there are many subfolders mostly of a 0kb size.
I thought disk cleanup cleared all temporary files but it didn’t.
Can I safely delete or clear the “Content.IE5” file?

Just realized that I am running IE6 if this makes any difference however the
Index.dat file in that folder carries today's date.
