Temporary Internet Files

I'm using Windows XP with Explorer and Outlook Express 6.0 and have
recently had a problem saving pictures included in e-mail messages as
anything other than bmp files. When I try to deleting the 'Temporary
Internet Files' through Internet Options in Control Panel nothing
happens (i.e., the folder continues to contain better than 30,000
files!). According to Settings, the location of that folder is

C:\Documents and Settings\'my name'\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\)

I've noted that I've got several 'Temporary Internet Files' folders.
In addition to the huge folder referred to above, there is another one
under

C:\Documents and Settings\'my name'\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary
Internet Files.

It contains the folder 'Content.IE5' with 4 subfolders each containing
a desktop.ini file.

There is another one at

C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files.

It also contains a 'Content.IE5' folder but this time with 30
subfolders and nearly 800 files!

Is this FUBAR or what?

Hi,
Delete those TIF folders. New ones will be created on restart.
See: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
Normally, checking "Delete all offline content" when you clear the cache
will clear those Content.IE5 folders.

And... a TIF folder of around 50-60 MB should be large enough for most
purposes and will be less prone to trouble than a larger cache.

Hope this helps,
Don
