Recently I have configured my wife's home computer for
work so she can access the internet. Somewhere along the
line her server at work went down. Once up and running she
now can't access the internet. They have changed from DHCP
to Static IP. So once I have entered the info that they
have given my wife (IP address and what not) in the TCP/IP
properties but she still can't access the internet. When
checking the status on the connection, does that tell you
that it is connected? Is there something that I'm doing
wrong? or is there a step that I need to do?

any help is welcome

thanks
dj

.
Did you setup on your home computer a VPN connection or
something else? You internet connection is dailup or
high speed access (cable or ADSL)

I configured my wife's computer at home and works fine
there. when i brought the system to her work it also
worked fine up until the server at her work went down and
since they changed to static. I have DSL at home and i can
connect fine. There IT guy says that there is something
wrong with my computer. So i took it home and connected to
the internet with no problems. Took it back to her work
and can access the internet, after I put there IP address
info in the TCP/IP properties. I believe they have
business DSL at her work

Hi DJ

Sorry about the last post did not make my self clear
does your wife use the same type of connection at work and at home IE cat5
at work and cat5 at home and the same network card
IF she browse the home network and get on internet using DHCP
If she can logon and browse the Office Network but not use the internet then
there is something wrong with setup of the static IP
if you can compare ipconfig/all with a computer that is working using a
static IP at the office with her computer the only thing deferent should be
her IP and Mack address everything else should be the same you did not say
what OS your wife is using
(OFFICE)
Physical Address: Deferent
Dhcp Enable No
IP Address: Deferent
Subnet Mask: Same
Default Gateway: Same
DNS Servers: Same
WINS Server: Same
