general/alternate TCP/IP config

I want to use my home laptop (XP sp3) at home and at work.

I can configure TCP/IP properties General tab to use Obtain an IP address
automatically for work (Active Directory, Server 2003, DHCP) environment,
and then the TCP/IP properties Alternate Configuration tab to assign a
static address for home.

However, at work we use a Proxy server. If I set the proxy server correctly
in IE | Internet Options | Connections |Lan Settings to enable the laptop
to connect to the Internet at work, will this stop me accessing the Internet
at home, where I do not use a Proxy server?

Short answer is yes, you will need to remember to untick "Use a proxy server
for your LAN" when at home.
