taskbar problems

I am using XP Pro and have lost my 'active programs' toolbar from the
taskbar....this means when I minimise, the program buttons do not appear and
I have to use Alt-Tab to restart programs.....

I have tried to adjust Toolbar properties from right-clickin the toolbar but
cannot get it back....

Any ideas appreciated

Can you see the start button?

Do you mean when you minimize the windows to the bottom of
the taskbar, they are gone?

Or do you mean the taskbar is gone all together?
