Taskbar buttons disappear

Hi. I turned on my computer this afternoon, and found that my taskbar
buttons have disappeared. The Quick Launch toolbar has expanded to
fill the whole taskbar, and when I minimize programs they shrink to
somewhere between the start menu and the quick launch toolbar. When I
remove the quick launch toolbar, the whole taskbar goes away. It's as
if the buttons were on a toolbar that removed itself from my taskbar.
This has happened before, and I've been able to fix it with system
restore, but i don't know if that's not working or something, but I
can't. Anyone know how to fix this? It's *really* starting to piss me
off.

Try these:

Line 164. Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality
Line 298. Taskbar Repair Tool Plus!

When I click line 164, I get an error "Could not create object named
"WScript.Shell"
With line 298, I get a runtime error ("The specified module could not
be found")

Right-click the first one, and save the link to the Desktop, run from there.

The second one is just a link to a page:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm
The page has a list of repairs, or you can download the software.

Yes, I know, and I did, and got those errors.
(For the second one, when I downloaded the tool I got the second
error, and when I clicked on the specific error I got the same error
as i had with line 164.)

What a relief - Kelly's fix fixed this infuriating problem easily. After
hours of searching through the Microsoft database. Why can't Microsoft emply
Kelly?

Okay, I am not very computer savvy, I downloaded this using the link, then it
told me to restart my computer. Nothing changed. What do I need to do now?
