taskbar snafoo... help!!

ok, I did it again and can't remember how I fixed it last time... while I had
a folder open, I accidentally dragged the folder button on the taskbar and it
created a 'second' taskbar.

When I open the quick launch toolbar, it shows up on a different line than
the program buttons. If I drag the taskbar down, it disappears completely, or
if I get it all on one taskbar, the quick launch icons are next to the system
tray instead of the Start button... how do I fix it? I have tried everything
and I don't want to lock the toolbar.

Is there a way to 'reset' the taskbar?

Thanks, Deb

It seems that you created a new Toolbar of that folder on your taskbar. It is
very simple if you will do it on right way.

Try right-clicking on the empty area of your taskbar. Point to Toolbar and
uncheck the Toolbar of that Folder.

Let me know, if it works.

Thanks for the response... I tried viewing the toolbars from the context menu
and the only one checked was Quick Launch. I even closed the Quick Launch and
restarted it AND I dragged it to the desktop and back and each time the
'extra' taskbar reappeared!

When there is nothing open and the taskbar is empty, it looks like two
taskbars, one on top of the other... the drag/resize bar next to the Start
button is duplicated and the tray icons are lined up vertically instead of
horizontally.

Ok! I found the solution. There is nothing wrong with your taskbar. The
problem is that you are not doing in right way. Proceed with following:

1. Close all open application first. No Program Button should available at
Taskbar.
2. Unlock the Taskbar by Right Clicking on taskbar and uncheck "Lock the
Taskbar"
3. Enable the Quick Launch Toolbar.
4. Drag the Quick Launch near to the Start Menu.
5. If you are unable to do so, try moving the handler around the toolbar.

The problem is only with the "handler". There are two handlers around the
Quick Launch Toolbar. When should be to the left side another on right side
of the Toolbar. Try your best!

Ask me for remote assistance, if you have an email account at hotmail.com.

Waiting for your comments.

Thank you! Sorry it took so long to get back, but have been on a business
merry-go-round... I will try this as soon as I get back to town and to my
friend's house again (she had the problem).

One persons problem is anothers solution

thankyou rajkohli, Ive been trying to work out how to get my
quick launch bar on the top row
and my open applications on the bottom row
IMO this is the most efficient way to use the taskbar.
Have had it set up this way for 6 years but always accomplished it by
accident !
After reformats, just played around with it until it ended up how I wanted it.
It does sound familiar, I think I have worked it out before and then
forgotten it again 6 months later at my next backup / reformat
Hopefully this time I will remember - for next time

thankyou

Why do you think this is the "most efficient" way? I have set up my
task bar with two rows, quicklaunch and address bar at the *bottom*,
and **open applications on the top row**. I like it that way.
