recently when i try to open task manager to see whats running , it
opens up in the sys tray but i can't get it to open in a full window.

after a short time i get this error message "to help protect your
computer , windows has closed this program"
its in a box titled "Data Execution Prevention

i then close this box and get another stating that windows taskmanager
has encountered a problem and needs to close.
it gives a box to debug or close

there are files associated with a error report
C:\DOCUME~1\Watson's\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER4f5c.dir00\taskmgr.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Watson's\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER4f5c.dir00\appcompat.txt

and this is the "error signature"
EventType : BEX P1 : taskmgr.exe P2 : 5.1.2600.3311 P3 :
47b0c0ef
P4 : taskmgr.exe P5 : 5.1.2600.3311 P6 : 47b0c0ef P7 :
00002665
P8 : c0000005 P9 : 00000008

I don't know if any of this helps , but please let me know what i can
do to fix this problem.

Thanks
Gord

Let;'s get some more information and eliminate some obvious things,
then fix it.

To eliminate questions and guessing, please provide additional
information about your system.

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste the information back here.

There will be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name), and whatever appears to be private information to you, just
delete it from the pasted information.

Perform some scans for malicious software, then fix any remaining
issues:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware
detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if desired.
