When ever I press Alt+ctrl+delete {or try to access task
manager by any other means) I only get the cpu usage
history gragh. I tried to restore to an earlier date but
that doesn't work either; I get a message saying that none
of my files have NOT been restored to an earlier date. I
tried different restore dates to no avail. Any input
appriciated

Peter;
Double click on the sides or bottom of Task Manager.

For the unrelated System Restore issue:
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

Hi Peter,

Double click the top border. This is common for many users. :o)

It sounds like you're running Task Manager in "Small Footprint
Mode." Simply double-click anywhere along the top or side borders to
return to a normal view. Alternatively, pressing <Ctrl>+<Tab> will
allow you to cycle between the various displays, and <Alt>+<F4> will
close it.
