Deleting this key from the registry should restore the original
Windows Task Manager:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image
File Execution Options\taskmgr.exe

You can try a System Restore to the day before you installed
Process Explorer. You can go back up to 90 days.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

Hi crapit,

The location John posted is correct. Process Explorer replaces Task Manager by adding a value named "Debugger" in the location posted by John. Perhaps you checked at the wrong place. Can you verify again?

Click Start, Run and type CMD.EXE and press ENTER.
Type the following (no wrap) command and press ENTER

reg query "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\taskmgr.exe" /s

What is shown in the output?

There is no such subkey call "Image File Execution Options"
