Tape Drive Problems

I have a windows 2000 server with a Compaq 12/24 DAT Drive.
It is recognised under device manager as Compaq DDS3 12/24 DAT Drive. with a
Bus Number of 0 and a Target ID of 6. Under the driver tab it says the
Driver Provider is Veritas and the driver being used is sonysdx.sys.

Under my removable storage I have my CD-ROM which is fine but I also have a
SONY SDT-7000 SCSI Sequential Device. Looking under the drive info for this
the Device name is \\.\Tape0, the device info gives it a Target of 6 and its
state is not present, empty and it has a little red cross by it
I also have a Compaq DDS3 12/24 DAT Drive listed, the device name is the
same as the sony, the device Target is 6 and the state is not present,
Dismountable. This also has a little red cross by it.

Veritas backup Exec was being used as the backup software, but it kept
failing so I tried to use NT Backup last night but this also failed with a
report saying no unused media was available.

What is going on, I have tried searching google but have not come up with
anything, I couldn't find any help on microsoft or hp's site so can anybody
please shed any light on what is happening?

Thanks very much

Stuart

Uninstall the driver sonysdx.sys and the SONY SDT-7000 device.
It is the wrong driver for the Compaq 12/24 data.

Uninstall / Reinstall the driver for the Compaq 12.24 DAT,
which is probably the same as the HP 12/24 DDS-3 DAT

Thats what I wondered, but where has it come from?
Should I remove the device from device manager and then delete the sony
entry from removable storage? or should just remove the device from device
manager?
