Systray arrow missing

Yesterday when I turned on my computer, the little arrow next to the systray
icons that allows you to see the hidden icons was missing. After running the
computer for a couple hours, the arrow just magically reappeared, but now
it's gone again. I did some fixes this morning so now at least I can see all
the icons (before, the hidden ones were completely unaccessible) but I'd
really like to be able to reduce my system tray back to a manageable size.
Any ideas?

The arrow behavior very much depends on the behavior of your system tray. If
there is atleast one inactive icon in your system tray then you will be able
to see the arrow.

Right-click on your Taskbar and choose Properties.
Here click the "customize" button under "Notification Area" to manage the
behavior of your system tray icons.

Commonly called the chevron, because that's what it resembles.

Notification Area
[[Chevron is missing: For some users, setting the very first icon to Always
Hide, restores the arrow. ]]
