System will not return from standby

I lost my hard drive a few months back and I had to restore to a new
hard drive. Ever since then my system will not come out of standby.
It goes into standby fine, but when I hit the keyboard or mouse it
fires up then after about 5 seconds I hear the power on tone, or beep,
and it begins to boot fresh. No error, no warning, nothing. I've
searched the web and groups to no success. If anyone can help me out
or at least tell me how I might get a log generated I would appreciate
it.

Start with error recovery. In control panel--system are you set to auto
reboot on error. If so turn that off in an attempt to capture the error.
