System Standby Prevented by M/S Natural Keyboard

I keep getting the message:
"System Standby Failed
The device driver for the 'Standardd 101/102-Key or
Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard' device is preventing the
machine from entering standby. Please close all
applications and try again. If problem persists you may
need to update this driver"

I have an original M/S Natural Keyboard which I bought when
they first came out several years ago, but I can't find an
updated driver. I've tried Control Panel, Hardware, Update
Driver, to no avail.

Any ideas on how to find find an updated driver for the
original M/S Natural Keyboard or is this likely not really
the cause of the problem?

I have a new PC with WinXP Pro and 1 gig RAM and made all
the updates to Windows, Zone Alarm and Norton antivirus
live update and have scanned for ad-aware, spybot etc.

I'm running XP Home on a new Sony with Quicken installed and have the
same problem. I can't hibernate or standby. Things go back to normal
when I uninstall Quicken. I spent two hours on the phone with Sony and
never resolved the problem. What program is that "Edit/Options...Hit
Shift-4" suggestion to be tried in?

Thanks

Kelly,

I tried that. I still have the same problem. When trying to hibernate,
the process aborts and I get a message like "The device driver for
'Agere AC'97 modem' device is preventing the system from going into
hibernation." I know the problem is also related to Quicken though. When
Q is uninstalled, things work normally. I tried installing the latest
modem driver from Agere, but installation stalled because setup_dll
could not be found. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Paul

Problem solved!! In addition to your suggestions, I went into Device
Drivers, opened the Hidden Drivers, went to Mrtrate, stopped the driver
and disabled it in the Startup Type. Now Hibernate and Standby work. I
may have disabled a route to get current mortgage rates, but I don't
care. I also downloaded a very neat little program called Wizmo. It is a
program which easily creates desktop shortcuts for a number of common
Windows operations like Hibernate, Standby, Shutdown, Logoff, Exit,
Reboot, Open, Close and many more. Mission accomplished. Thanks to all.
