System Resore

My computer is getting increasingly slower at Start Up, and when copying CD's
in Media player, I have had it from new only a month. It's sound is now
distorted when playing & ripping CD's at the same time. I suspect Spyware,
but Microsoft Antispyware detects nothing. Have also checked for viruses
using Norton, no joy.
Have tried to use System Restore , at nearly every restore point, but
computer will not allow , message comes up after start up, " Your computer
cannot be restored to ...2005 System Checkpoint".
I think I will have to use 'System Recovery', but have just copied 100 CD's
to Hard Drive, and am reluctant to try something so drastic.
Is there anything else I could try?

If you suspect spy-ware try these two pieces of software:
Spy Bot search and destroy:

And Ad-Aware:
http://www.lavasoft.com/

Both of these programs are free and not to shabby either.

tried the software, it detected some cookies, but music still distorted when
copying CD's. Have not tried System Restore again yet, but will do.
