System Information

When I try the System Information under XP nothing happens
I have to use the command sysdm.cpl in the start >run
I went to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools
Click on Prosperities for system information
In the Start box I changed it to "c:\windows\system32\sysdm.cpl"
in the target I made the same change
When I clicked apply , I received the following reply
The folder "c:\windows\system32|sysdm.cpl" specified in the start
box is not valid
Does any one have any ideas
Thanks
Bob

Hi Robert,

This happens if the "NoPropertiesMyComputer" Policy is enabled.

Create a System Restore point and try this:

Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe
Locate and then click the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
(and)
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

In both of the above locations, see if a value named "NoPropertiesMyComputer" exists.
If so, delete the "NoPropertiesMyComputer" value, and close the Registry Editor.

In the "start in" field in the properties sheet of a shortcut, you can only mention a file system folder. sysdm.cpl is not a valid item for that field.
