I am using WinXP Home

When I go to "System Restore" (Start\Control Panel\System|System Restore and
click on it I get this error message:
RUNDLL
An exception occurred while trying to run
"C:\windows\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL"C"\windows\system32\sysdm.cpl",System"

I am thinking that maybe one of my malware programs may have deleted
something legitimate that caused "System Restore" not to work properly. Is
there something I can do to make it so that "System Restore" will work
properly again?

Thanks to anyone offering help to me.

Open Windows Explorer and locate this path:
Windows\Inf = look in the right Pane/window for this file:
Sr.inf <= Not you can turn the Show Hidden File from Tools >> Folder
options >> View if you cannot see this file.
Right click the "Sr.inf " and select Install, you may need your XP CD handy
if the system need to install from the CD if it didn't find he file on the
system directories.
Read here:

Thank you both Patti and nass for pointing me in the right direction to
correct my problem. However sr.inf would not install the files without
giving me an error message for most of the files saying: Copy Error Setup
cannot copy the file when I had directed the Files Needed dialog box to
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 where most of the files were.

The information given at the site you all pointed me too gave the files that
needed to be transfered so I just located all of those files and copied them
to C:\Windows\System32 then rebooted and now the "System Restore" seems to be
working okay...

Thanks again so much to you two for helping me.
