System crash and slow down

Hi, my PC gets realy slow sometimes and it one time crashed apparently due to
an error with accessing the graphics software, sometimes peripheral devices
like printers or cameras cannot be recognised even with the software already
installed. I had problems with writing discs as they would never complete as
the PC would abandon the process before completion. I sent the PC for
hardware maintainanc check up and they told me all the hardware is fine
except I hear the OS (Vista) was found to be continously accessing the hard
disc leading to all the problems. They advised me to reload OS but how sure
can I be that the problem will be sorted?

Try doing a System Repair with your Windows Vista Installation DVD. Boot
from the DVD, Windows will boot into the Windows Recovery Environment >
select the System Recovery Option, when you reach the Setup section, click
the link on the screen that says, Repair Computer. Select your installation
of Windows > on the list of options, click the Startup Repair option and
follow the provided instructions.

Make sure your BIOS is set to boot from your Windows Vista DVD.
