here is the story....

had a abit motherboard which died, put in an ASUS A7N8X-E motherboard
everything worked great USB printers installed and could read an external
hard drive.

However, it would not read a USB GE 11in1 card reader which I have tested
on several other computers and works fine.

read a bunch a stuff , uninstalled and resintalled the USB root HUBs,
installed latest Nforce driver package, still no dice....

so swap that board out with another ASUS board which has Nforce Nidia
chipset by the way. Still no dice....

so just swap that out with a ARock board with a VIA chipset.it booted up
to my amazement without do a repair on windows. It started to install new
drivers for everything. It even installed VIA USB root HUBS.

I could see and can still see the usb card reader in the device manager
under disk drives. However, it will not show up in My computer.

What am I doing wrong? What am I missing?

BTW, put the first ASUS board into another box which was just missing a
motherboard and installed windows, it reads the Card first time every
time....go figure

help....

also, I can see the four devices in disk management, but they have no
letter assigned to them.

when I try to assign a letter, it says action failed due to the device
not being enabled, restart the computer to enable the device.well,
restarting has no affect.

also have Tweakui installed and all drives should show up in my computer.

I believe the registery must be screweup somewhere not enabling the usb
devices
