Real time protection is what it says it is. It protects your file system in a live fashion meaning if a known virus pops up, it's detected in realtime

It's ok to turn it off but then the system will take longer to recognize a virus

The exchange portion protects your email client portion since virus's usually enter a network threw the lovely email attachment. The exchange checkbox your talking about is a protective measure to defend against email virus

Hopefully that makes sense now

LOL BUT REALLY WHAT WOULD HAPPAN? NO IM NOT YELLING
viruses if you turn it off you could have a virus and not
know about it.Viruses can get on your system now through
any html page or e/mail one no longer needs to open
attachments.Advice leave it alone.
God Bless the U.S.A.
