Program "Hangs" when shutting down WinXP SP3

We have a WinXp Sp3 client machine. We have Symantec Antivirus Corporate
Edition 9.0 client running on this machine. When I log off or shutdown the
machine a menu appears-Symantec Antivirus End Now. A progress bar runs about
half way before the menu closes and the system logs off/shutsdown. The
option to end is also display and you can click to end the program. Sym
Antivirus 9.0 is compatible with XP. Not sure why it hangs at shutdown? Any
suggestions?

Hello GW,

I don't think this is anything to worry about. I have Zonealarm Security
Suite, and it does the same thing when I log off, restart, or shut down. I
believe that some programs are just so memory intensive that it takes a
little extra for them to shut down when it is time.
