Symantec vs. McAfee

B

+++Bobby \O\+++

I finally got tired of Norton System Works taking over my PC - so I
uninstalled it and installed McAfee Virus Protection. However, there are
still remnants of the Symantec programs and I believe they are conflicting
with McAfee (numerous problems).

a. How can I find out how to completely uninstall ALL Symantec programs?
b. Does anyone have recommendations for some other tools that I can
download that would take the place of Norton System Doctor, Clean Sweep and
Norton Disk Doctor (and maybe some other useful tools too to keep my PC
running smoothly)?

Search symantecs site, the info is there. Or email them and ask.

A) http://www.cit.cornell.edu/helpdesk/win/nav/uninstallnav.html
(Ignore the part about re-installing.)

B) System Mechanic www.iolo.com (even comes with AV and a firewall.)

You don't need all that crap on your PC, just an AV.

You should have removed all of System Works, but left NAV only. Else remove
all, then use the tool provided by Symantec to remove remaining vestiges,
then reinstalled NAV from the same CD with custom install option.

CS died a few years ago, so you have an older version.

Please do not use the words Norton and useful in the same sentence.

Norton products stopped being useful shortly after they were purchased
by Symantec.

If you've been to the symantec site investigating, you'd know that the
version used is important in locating help.
