McAfee VirusScan Plus 2007 Conflict Problem

Hello,
I am trying to install McAfee VirusScan Plus 2007 on my Windows XP
machine. Each time I get an error saying it can't install because of
Norton Rescue Disk and Norton Antivirus 2002 Professional Edition.

I have never installed these items so they must have come with this
computer. I uninstalled everything I could but am still getting the
error.

Here is what I have done so far:

*Uninstalled Norton
*Went to the Norton website and used the removal tool to get rid of
anything Norton leaves behind.
*Removed all Norton/Symantec folders and files.
*Went into the Regedit and got rid of everything Norton/Symantec
*Also tried booting into Safe Mode to get rid of everything.
*ran all my spyware products.
*Went to the McAfee help site and they cant' help me because it is a
Norton product.
*Went to Norton and they don't have anything relating to products from
2002.

So, how on EARTH do I get rid of this? I want to install my software.

Much much thanks in advance.

dell's computer came with Norton install and a lot of people would
reformat and reinstall xp because of the shit Norton caused. Good luck

Unfortunately the only route to a 'clean' PC after this stuff's been
preinstalled might be a full reinstall of Windows. Norton do release a
removal-tool, though I don't know if works for this version.

In any case, I wouldn't recommend McAfee, it's only marginally better than
Norton. AVG, NOD32, Trend, Kaspersky, etc. are all better alternatives.

I'm trying to get this site off the ground: http://genuinewindows.co.uk as
a resource for people buying computers, on the basis that knowledge is better
than taking a gamble.

I did not get an XP Disk with my Dell computer. I have nothing to
install from. I guess I will contact Dell. I can't believe they can
just put this crap on your computer.
