Super Slow Login

I helped someone clean off a TON of spyware files on his
standalone PC. However, I see it still takes forever to
login to the computer (connected only to a DSL line).

After typing in the password, the Applying Settings box is
on the screen for more than one minute. Anyone else run
into this situation?

I did have two spyware files that Search & Destroy seemed
to have trouble cleaning. They continued to appear scan
after scan.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi

Also try to run Ad-aware 6.0

Run disk cleanup, chkdsk /f and then run defrag
Run msconfig and unheck the box for those applications that need not to start at startup
Also check the DMA mode for the HDD, usually it should be DMA mode 5
