slow start up

When I restart my computer in the morning it now takes 40+minutes to load
everything. You can here the hard drive working but it sounds slow as well.
What has happened?? I tried to run Search & Destroy spyware but the scan
takes days!!! I left it scanning for 12 hours and it had only scanned
81/21000.

Try Error Checking the drive. (Rightclick the drive icon, Properties, Tools
tab.)
