What is microsoft NET.framework?
Do I need it on my computer? XP home sp3
I am trying to figure out what is slowing up everything on my system.
It takes 5 minutes to start printing something from my hard drive.
The computer has been defragged, checked for viruses and spyware, etc.

..NET Framework is a programming language. As you've noticed there are many
versions from 1.0 to 4.0 beta. You may need all of them on your system to
run programs wrtten in any of the versions out there. Installing version 2.0
does not render version 1.0 obsolete, newer version do not eliminate the
need for older.

I doubt if it is causing your problems.

It's not likely that .NET Framework is slowing down
your PC. Start 'Task Manager' (Ctrl+Alt+Del keys)
Click on the 'Processes' tab and sort these processes
by double clicking on the 'CPU' column.

Normally when the PC is not in use the 'System Idle Process'
will be at the top of the list and at 98 or 99%. If there are one
or more processes that are very active and at the top of the list,
they could be the cause of the slow down.
