Do you have an AGP slot, as well as PCI ? AGP would
give better performance.

Chipsets like 845G, have an AGP slot.

Chipsets like 845GV (V for value), don't have the AGP slot.
In which case, you're stuck with a PCI video card as an upgrade.

It is important to get the slot issue right, in order to
get the correct card.

These are some examples of PCI video cards.

Nvidia 6200 PCI based card $46

ATI X1550 PCI based card $73
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161227

*******

If you have an AGP slot, then there is a 6200 AGP version as well $32
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127317

There is also an AGP X1550 for $49
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102081

For some of the most recent cards, sometimes drivers are only
available for WinXP/Vista, and if you have an older OS, that
can be a problem.

The ATI HD2400Pro is pretty recent, as AGP cards go. It is
still (barely) available.

The 6200, the X1550, and the HD2400Pro, are not real "gamer" cards.
They at the low end of the charts. But the good cards for gaming
(which draw more electrical power as well), aren't listed on
Newegg any more. The X1950Pro and the HD3850 would be stronger cards.
Nvidia also had some strong AGP cards, but they stopped making boards
like that some time ago. (So you may find more selection on Ebay.)

The X1950Pro and the HD3850 are here, for comparison.

The cards I mentioned above (6200/X1550/HD2400Pro) should
not cause a problem for your power supply, as they are
relatively low power cards.

To run a gamer card, you need a reasonable processor to drive
them. If the processor in the computer is weak, then a lot
of the performance of the video card will not be evident.
If the purpose of the new video card, is mainly to drive
two monitors, for desktop applications, then any of those
cards will do the job.
