Subscibe to newsgroups

tatar

My problem may not be Windows XP subject but this is the only newsgroup I
have access to. I was monitorying a number of Microsoft newsgroups. Lately
all but Microsoft.public.windowsxp.general has disappeared from the list of
available newsgroups in Outlook Express. Every time I try to subscribe to an
additional newsgroup I get the following message:

Your 'microsoft.public.outlook.installation' folder was not polled for its
unread count. Account: 'msnews.microsoft.com', Server:
'msnews.microsoft.com', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '411 no such
newsgroup', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 411, Error Number:
0x800CCCA5.

Can anybody help

Microsoft is phasing out their newsgroups. You'll have to use another
news server to access them now. Try eternal-spetember.org. It's free but
you need to register. I've been using it for years and it's very dependable.

Get a real news server, such as http://individual.net for 10 Euro/year and
configure your Outlook Express NNTP client reader to use the
news.individual.net server with your username and password.

Micro$soft is pure head-in-the-muck bullshit.
