OE can't connect to Newsserver through LAN

I have a LAN connection to Internet, and also a Dial-Up connection for
emergencies.
Using the LAN connection, I have been trying to set up a newsreader
account in Outlook Express, choosing msnews.microsoft.com as the NNTP
server. OE tries to download newsgroups from the server, but fails,
giving the error message "Unable to Connect to the Server". The
"details" are as follows.

Configuration:
Account: msnews
Server: msnews.microsoft.com
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0e

If I use "FeedReader", there is no problem. Also, there is no problem
in OE if I use Dial-up, but, for obvious reasons, I would like to use
OE with my (24-hr) LAN connecion. Can someone please guide me to a
solution?
Thanks in advance.

There is an OE newsgroup that might be helpful.

Try the above on your lan connection(cut and paste and create a shorcut), then double click.
It is also the link to the appropriate forum in nntp format and crossposted to the same group.

X-post to OE6 newsgroup, following winston's lead.
