BlankI am using Windows XP nodes on a SBS 2000 Server. I tried setting up IM (Instant Messaging) setup but since that day, I am not able to access my Hotmail and msnews.microsoft.com through the Server.

On accessing the Hotmail, I get the following errors:
Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Rajiv Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12019, Error Number: 0x80004005
And, on accessing the newsgroup, I get the following error:
Your 'microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000' folder was not polled for its unread count. Account: 'msnews.microsoft.com', Server: 'msnews.microsoft.com', Protocol: NNTP, Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
I have tried all the methods described in the following article without success:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287921
I shall appreciate if someone can guide me as how to resolve the issue.

Your OP was in HTML and he replied with a plain text version
of your message.

You need to use OUTLOOK EXPRESS to setup your Hotmail and
the newsreader accounts.

If you don't have Outlook Express you can download it free
from MS
here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp

You should also find answers on that page (or links anyway).

BlankHotmail, at least, is recognising the fact that you're behind a proxy.
Hotmail doesn't like that...at all!

Do you have the Firewall client installed? If not, try installing that and
then try hotmail again.

Please refrain from uploading binaries to non-binary newsgroups. I
really didn't want your binary crap on my computer.

Thanks for all the replies. To answer all the points raised:

1. Yes, I am using OE
2. Yes, I have Firewall Client installed
3. I have tried all the ways mentioned in the following link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287921
4. My Hotmail and Newsgroups were working fine till one day when I
installed the Instant Messenger on the Exchange and following that I am not
able to access the two from the XP node.

1. See the suggestions in these archived threads about your Hotmail/OE
error: http://snurl.com/2udf.

Make certain your Time, Date and Time Zone settings are correct.

IE Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Edit> type in the following domains...

passport.com
passport.net
msn.com
msn.net

2. Most "all of a sudden..." problems these days are usually caused by
hijackware:

These days most of us are recommending HijackThis to identify and assist in
the removal of these bad guys. **Post your files to any of the following

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.
