Stuck Which Graphics Card To Buy

im not spending over £250 on gfx card if at all possible. If the new ati ones are >£300 then ill think about it, but to be honest no matter what i put in the new comp, its going to beat a vanilla 9600

I wouldn't have spent that kind of money up untill 2005, but graphics are starting to get Pixar good now.

I just found out that two 256mb cards in SLI mode only equates to 256mb overall..... bugger, maybe I should have got the 512mb x1800xt after all.

btw, how expensive is an x1800xt?
and how expensive is the x1900xt gonna be?
and i heard that th3e x1800xt was not good at 3dmodels (or something like that)

ill try to find the article which had the proposed lineup of gfx cards for this year

2 7800gtx cards will be better than 1 x1800xt by a fair margin, but i guess will also require a shedload of power and require a shedload of cooling

i have found the article. take this with a pinch of salt, but i would imagine it is a pretty good guidline as to what is going to come up later this year.

what is hapening is ati are changing their naming for the x1900 series. The 1800xl becomes the 1900xt, and the 1800xt becomes the 1900 xtx.

the 1900xt will cost £311, and the x1900xtx will cost £367. apparently.

hmm.. so why do i still see sites where the x850 costs 500$?

i dno

can get an x850 xt (non pe) for £150 though, so i would imagine those sites are either modified/crossfire cards, or complete rip offs
