Strange startup behaviour in Outlook

R

Robert Leithe

Hi,

I'm sharing a computer with my girlfriend, running Windows
XP and Office XP (all patched with everything Windows
Update has to offer).

One strange thing though, whenever one of us log on with
our user, and starts Outlook this message occurs
********* OUTLOOK ERROR START ***********
Microsoft Virual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it
an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more
information.
********* OUTLOOK ERROR STOP ************
Upon clicking OK the message and Outlook closes. After
this, the same user that just logged on can stop and start
Outlook how ever often he/she wants. He/she can also shut
down the computer, log back on and start Outlook without
any problems.
All until the other users logs on again, then he/she gets
the error when running Outlook for the first time after
logon. All further attempts to start Outlook works fine.
All until the other users logs on again... See the pattern?

Have anyone seen this before? Any suggestions on how to
fix it?

Sincerely
Robert Leithe

I started having the exact same situation occur even
since I changed from Internet Email Only to the
corporate/workgroup email support for Exchange Server. I
have three different profiles set up. I can log off and
log on again with the same profile with no problem.
However, whenever I try to open up Outlook with a
different profile, I get the same runtime error that you
get. When I try to open Outlook a second time with that
profile, it will open fine.

I would also be interested in any insight other users can
provide.
