Strange problem installing NTBackup on XP Pro

Hello everybody, I have NTBackup on my laptop (running XP Home) and I would
like to install it also on a couple of desktops (running XP Pro).

Trying to install that MS backup sw, I get this error mex on both my XP pro:
"The Windows Installer service cannot update one or more protected Windows
file".
And the installation fails.

I have tried to install the NTBackup.msi on my XP Home installation cd as
well as the one on my XP pro installation cds.
I have also tried, of course, to stop/end all the softwares currently
running (BTW the 2 desktops have very different configurations/settings from
each other).

Any idea as to what the problem may be?
