I had been having problems with my laptop and recently I thought everything
was alright. But after my laptop goes through the Windows XP Home Edition
loading screen, it goes right to the message, heres the code thing:

*** STOP: 0x000000ED (0x81B44AF8, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I followed directions to fix it, go to the repair console and type in
'chkdsk /r" or "fix boot" but they didn't do anything. Anything else I can do?

Hi,

It would be "chkdsk C: /r" - is this the command you ran, and did the disk
checker run to completion?

i just did chk dsk, and i tried yours, neither worked

It sounds like your hard drive may have failed. You can run a drive
diagnostic from the hard drive mftr., but since this is a laptop you
should call the laptop mftr.'s tech support for repair/replacement.

You typed it exactly as specified?

chkdsk SPACE C: SPACE /r Say yes to check upon reboot. Then exit program
and reboot?

Hi,

Did it fail to complete? Or did it just fail to run at all? Most likely, as
Malke has wisely indicated, you have a failed hard drive.
